New Jerseyans aren’t letting their beach bum of a governor off the hook just yet.
Greg Dworkin and Joan McCarter are on hand to keep us on track with both the latest headlines on all fronts, and the long game on Trumpcare.
Congress has been in recess for the holiday, but the majority of Republican Senators are simply ducking their local July 4th parades, rather than face constituents anxious and angry about the Gop proposal to ruin everything for money. Republicans who’ve been notable holdouts felt more comfortable appearing in public, but even then only in measured doses. And no Trumpcare discussion is complete without taking yet another stab at explaining procedure.
On the international front, Trump has failed to rein in North Korea and has been unable to get whatever trade concessions it is he’s looking for out of China. And now, he’s on his way to the G20, where people think he’s an idiot. In all of which he’s backed up by alleged Secretary of State Rex “Everything” Tillerson.
Not that any of this means anything to Trump’s base. But screw those guys.
And hey, here are two curve balls I bet you didn’t think Greg would throw you: Ancient Romans made the best concrete, and it might help us hold back rising seas, and; a leopard may not be able to change its spots, but any two cheetahs can swap their skin.
Joan McCarter notes most Republican Senators are dodging their constituents, but are those who aren’t hearing what people are really saying? Don’t leave it to chance, though: keep calling! Especially as Republicans begin reaching into their bag of tricks, to create excuses for holdouts to vote yes on something—anything!—in the end. Keep an eye on Murkowski, though. Just sayin’.
