Kagro in the Morning - March 17, 2014

Yet. Another. Snow day. Greg Dworkin joins us in coming back from a weekend of Crimean voting and Malaysian plane searching to discuss the 2014 Senate outlook, perceptions of the economy and the healthcare system, and the Republican 2016 field. Forbes column says Obamacare is working & its opponents are wrong. Fun! In gun news: that anti-texting FL movie theater shooter was texting in the theater just minutes earlier! Counter to some popular talking points, accidental shootings are on the rise in WA. Weekend open carry protests in TX & AR go off safely, all participants being required to empty their weapons. Lastly, wage theft at Amazon.

Kagro in the Morning - March 12, 2014

We've got to go back to the ongoing CIA/Senate war today, especially with Joan McCarter joining us. Greg Dworkin dropped by first, and we started with that subject, as well as FL-13, the latest WSJ/NBC and Bloomberg polls, Obama's move on overtime pay, and Fernghazi. Joan weighs in on "Ferns" and FL-13 (with help from Bill in Portland Maine) as well, but the bulk of our time (as you might expect) was on the CIA/Senate fight. It's just a constitutional crisis, is all. More on that from The Nation, and a note for our next show on "My Life as a Retail Worker: Nasty, Brutish and Poor."

Kagro in the Morning - February 20, 2014

Greg Dworkin gets us up to speed on the CBO & minimum wage, and the latest ACA news, then helps us get a grip on the story of the multi-billion dollar buyout of WhatsApp. In Crazy News: a DC taxi driver "kidnaps" a passenger, and Lay's potato chips aims for world domination. Then, back to reality, with continued fallout from the VW unionization vote. E.J. Dionne calls for "stand your ground" repeal, and Eugene Volokh apparently needed to tell people that allowing Muslims to use the same "conscience clause" exceptions that conservative Christians want to use doesn't count as Creeping Sharia. It's Creeping You Guys Don't Know What You're Doing.
