David Waldman and Greg Dworkin prep us on today’s January 6 Select Committee hearings! If that hearing airs and you haven’t heard this KITM, you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.
Back by popular demand, the January 6 Insurrection hearings will resume today and the topic will be Donald Trump’s attempted corruption of the DOJ. It should be at least as fun/galling as the last four. Republicans wish they could join in the fun, and indeed, more and more are.
Unfortunately, after today’s installment the committee will be delaying until July. The good news is July isn’t far off, and Lordy they will have tapes.
Merrick Garland has finally awakened, and makes it rain subpoenas in Nevada, Georgia, Michigan with many more to come. Ron Johnson sure did step in it, but just because he’s an idiot, that doesn’t keep him from being criminally liable. And there’s Rudy Giuliani, launching a lynch mob over a ginger mint.
Justice will prevail! Maybe, eventually.
Donald’s taking it about as well as can be expected (heh heh). Trump team members are also coming unglued as their struggles against truth and reality overwhelm them. Of course, Republicans would give Trump another chance, it’s just that most prefer that he wasn’t around to accept. After all, the main tenet of Trumpism is knowing to knife a guy when he’s down. Mehmet Oz is attempting to Glenn Youngkin his way to Pennsylvania by ixnaying the umptray.
There were some (me) who had doubts about how far bipartisan gun legislation would actually advance. They were (I was) wrong! Sadly, democracy’s arch enemy, the Supreme Court has darkened the day once again.
