David Waldman, Greg Dworkin and all of us here at KITM World Headquarters hope that you had a happy Eastern Orthodox Easter weekend. Not a joke! It does always seem a bit late, but this year they might have wanted to even wait a while more.
The Russian army continues to fight in Ukraine for Vladimir Putin’s life. They talk like they’re planning on adding Moldova to their world domination tour (with a short stop at the Aunt Anne’s), while in actuality their fighting capacity has dropped, from World War III to World War II, to World War I, and should be around the Ukrainian War of Independence by next week.
France wins over fascism, again. Emmanuel Macron “won” the election by “getting more votes”, but damn it, winning elections only aggravates the losers, and really, can the world withstand election losers being polarized so often? Slovenia ran into a similar problem, with its centrist voters voting out the Trumpers there, which can only serve to grump out the authoritarian government aficionados around the world. Peaceniks in Finland and Sweden are beginning to see NATO membership as a good way to keep the peace.
Elon Musk might actually buy Twitter, which should fix nothing for anybody, which could be the intent. Another pointless troll, Ron DeSantis is basking in the afterglow of dropping a turd in Disney’s punchbowl while still in the middle of laughing at the people who fell for his banning of math textbooks. The right has already moved onto banning sports for being too woke and gay. At least they can still watch Marvel movies. Then there’s Perjury Traitor Greene. How can she be guilty if she can’t even spell it?
In North Carolina, a local election chief was threatened by a Republican leader seeking illegal access to voting equipment. You’d think threatening someone to do something illegal would itself be illegal, but then you aren’t Jonathan Turley. You wouldn’t get far in a Republican primary either.
Oh, yeah, we still have a COVID pandemic. If only red areas felt the same about population mixing as they do about racial mixing, we might all be doing better.
