for 3 4 for 4 in votes, the
only unity candidate in
contention, the only one inspiring any loyalty at
all. Democrats and Republicans did unite to elect an
independent as speaker … in Pennsylvania. In DC, unifying heroes are hard to come by. Could it be Patrick McHenry? How about good old Fred Upton? Or maybe Steve Scalise?
Sad! It’s such a cluster for the Republicans, that the most cheerful guy on the floor is probably George Santos, celebrating his swearing in yesterday. Santos at this moment has probably reached his lifetime career pinnacle.
Kevin McCarthy is so desperate that he’s even trying to cater to Republicans interested in government. What wouldn’t McCarthy do to gain power that Jim Jordan hasn’t already done for fun? Can he debase himself even more with Boebert and Gaetz? Can Donald Trump own McCarthy any more than he does now? Can Kevin actually lower the bar low enough to get over?
Maybe they should just quit now and let Cheryl L. Johnson run the place. She’s doing all right so far.
